    Mirwaiz defiant after attack

SRINAGAR: A Kashmiri separatist leader vowed on Tuesday his group would not be deterred from working to resolve the violence in the disputed territory, a day after his home came under grenade attack.

Suspected militants fired a grenade at the home of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in the summer capital Srinagar on Monday. The grenade exploded short of the target. Farooq termed the attack “the handiwork of some frustrated elements”, and said it would not stop his faction of the main Hurriyat Conference alliance of separatists from “creating an environment for resolving Kashmir”.

“This has been done to harass people and derail their attention,” Farooq told reporters in Kashmir’s winter capital, Jammu.

The little-known rebel group Save Kashmir Movement claimed responsibility for the attack in a telephone call to the local Kashmir News Service.

“Those who are under this impression that such attacks will prevent the Hurriyat from visiting Pakistan and participating in (the) dialogue process, are living in (a) fools’ paradise,” Farooq said. “Hurriyat makes it clear that we did not succumb to attacks and threats,” a party statement added.Major militant groups Hizbul Mujahedin and Lashkar-e-Taiba also condemned the attack as a “conspiracy to drive a wedge between separatists and militants”. afp

The Pakistani newspaper convenient forgets to mention that the hardcore Pakistani sympathiser Geelani was behind this attack.

These are the signs that the militancy is on its last leg.

Militancy and the ummah business has been exposed and the people of Kashmir are realising the deep conspiracy that is behind this violence in the name of Allah!

While there is no doubt the pragmatic actions of the India security forces, th Indian govt has had a leading role in making the militants realise their folly, I would also state that Pakistan too has understood that normalcy is in the interest of both the countries.

I don't have to attend every argument I'm invited to.
