I have heard about it. It would actually be quite funny if we gave the USA a base.

If it were to occur, what city do you think the US naval base would be situated in?

At Cam Rahn Bay if it would go through. Cam Rahn Bay was used by the Soviets after 1975 to base Tu-95s and warships.

Actually a double irony, the US built it in the first place. Wonder if the Phillipines would regret losing the lease $$.

It would be nice if the USA gave us some F-16s as well. :D

                  Doubt it.

                    Infact

Incidently China too is interested in this base. But grapewine goes, India and Russian are going to lease the base in future. Both are going to share costs.

Can the MiG-21 truly stand up to modern fighters, or would they just be used as cannon fodder to use up missiles?

Say troung, have you heard about some C-130s that were abandoned after the US pullout? I read somewhere that they are still sitting on a forgotton flightline somewhere in Vietnam or maybe that they were used until the lack of spares prevented it
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

I heard that story about C-123's used by Air America. Now I'm just confused...

The F-5A/B/E/F/RF, A-37B, A-1, C-130, C-123, C-119 and UH-1Hs were all used for years after the war and most were heavily used during the invasion of Cambodia.
