            I meant to start it as a list of third-world countries, but it ended up as a list of Middle Eastern and North African countries, and I forgot to change the title.

                I've been wondering why the CIA World Fact Book says China has a GDP of 6 trillion dollars when in fact it is around 1.2.

                  There's two measures of GDP, the CIA just uses the high one.

                    No, there isn't their economy is only 1.2 trillion, there are not two messures of GDP that have that large a gap.

                      It's called purchasing power parity (PPP). $1000 will buy $5000 worth of goods and services in China, more or less.
