  • M-16s in the Philippines

The following are mostly the new M-16s (M-4s) in the Special Action Force. Some look like C-8s from Canada.

The guy in the poncho is holding an M-16A1 with a new front end which makes it look like the M-16A2.

Well I think it is neat to see so many different models…

The one in the first picture is eerily similar to my old spotters rifle.

It also looks damn heavy, that's a 100 round drum magazine right.

100 or 120. They make(or used to make) both.

My spotter used the 120rd Beta C mag. No, it wasn't a very heavy weapon, btw. Maybe 15lbs fully loaded(with the Beta C) including the M-203 40mm grenade launcher.

Anyone know the exact model of the top M-16 variant with the C-Mag?

Is the M-16 the standard rifle for the Philiphines?

                  Yes more or less.

Some troops still use M-14s and some guys have other types of 5.56mm rifles (FAMAS G-2, AUG) but most guys use the M-16A1/A2. They used to build the M-16A1.

These are Ferfrans SOAR carbines, a local mod of the M-4 with Selective Interface Rail, Millett optics, and Surefire whitelight.

Yes you are right they are ferfrans rifles. it's one way of upgrading military rifles of the philippines since most of the military still use the m16a1. ferfrans offers a new upper reciever with Selective integrated rail, 11.5in heavy barrel with 1:7 twist. compensator and optics. you can shoot the whole mag and still hit the target due to it's compensator. you can also purchase a whole rifle.

as a member of a gun club. iv seen this rifle a couple of times. in the philippines gun club members can license ar15 rifles and buy all the stuffs needed to make it look like the 1st pic. yes having a 11.5 in barrel or retractible butt does not limit ownership.

The Special Action Force are modeled after the SAS and are known to have an extremely varied arsenal rivaled only by the Scout Rangers. Mods for the M16 and M4 family as well as the G36 series are available as well in small numbers.
