  • Improving WAB

    Dear Members,

I could make a really long-winded post.. but I think the title says just about everything needed. How can we, the WAB staff, make your experience on this forum better? All comments, suggestions, criticisms, and feedback is welcome.

    Thanks, Matt

Please stop moving the forums around. Not a huge deal, but it gets annoying.

I would like to see all the changes done with and over in a few days time and be left alone. It seems that, as of late, every few days something else changes or moves and I find myself wondering if I stumbled into the wrong place.

I understand that ideas are brought up and tried and tweaked and what not, but it is confusing and hard to keep up with.:)

I don't see how you can make this place any better, unless you add a porno section.

Somehow, I just knew that would come up.
I enjoy being wrong too much to change my mind.

As long as they keep in mind that there are women on the WAB, too. ;)

I kind've miss my name being bolded. I know the whole not want the newbies to feel left out thing, and I can appreciate that, but a bolded name here and there broke up the monotony of the exact same font of the current users online. Besides, it was kind of a rite of passage thing, too. :)

I've actually been talked to quite a few times about that.

The WAB Information Center was bumped down awhile back to shift content visitors may be interested in upward, so it would be viewable. The Firearms section was bumped down from first to fifth rank in the Military Topics category after a rather thorough review by a person who reviews forums and administers quite a few boards himself, as to not lend an inaccurate first impression of the forums content and membership to first-time visitors, as we have a quite diverse crowd here. I don't forsee any more forum moves in the near future.

Does anybody have any other suggestions? Appearance, ease of use, any suggestions for a portal? Photo galleries, blogs, podcasts, new discussion sections?

                Thanks, Matt

I am all for women's right.

Wear a burkha/ niqab, if you wish, while you key your posts! ;)

You won't be able to see the porno section even if they shove one in! :)

                          Thought

I have been to a board with a members photo gallery. Posters can send self pics so everyone gets an idea of what everyone else looks like and who they're talking to. Just an idea.

From the top of my head ....

Better sub forum organization. Less is more.Have 3 simple categories:
                            1. Military, Defence
                            2. Politics, Geopolitiics, Strategic Affairs
                            3. The rest.

Get rid of the new bot and his sub forum.

Issues specific sub forum is no good. Saddam to die and Israel-palestine can be discussed in a broader Middle East/West Asia Strategic Forum. Iraq war technical discussions etc. can be done in the appropriate Defence/Military Forum.

                            --

This was just a sample. Chris can hire me as a consultant and I'll really put my head into it.

Oh and Google Ads in particular and PPC monetization in general doesn't really work that well for forums. There are some better less intrusive ways to have the forum pay its own bills and even turn over a good profit.
                            I rant, therefore I am.

                              Srirangan,

Do you mean arrange them in that order?

As for having a single military and defense category, we'd have 10 forums there...

As for having merging Iraq and Israeli-Palestinian conflict forums into the Middle Eastern one... it may be appropriate considering they are part of the region, but they garner alot more interest and traffic with dedicated forums.
