  • You can Always tell when a Marxist Comes to Office

    http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/1...2,00020001.htm

Communism has only killed 120,000,000 people, let's give it another chance!

Collectivist societies in the past century have killed well over 200,000,000.

But never the less Human's manage to keep forming their own little types of fucked up Governments, butcher each other and then blame it on the "evil" Capitalist.

It's this whole need to believe we are not living in the best possible conditions society has to offer. People love to believe that there is something better out there than liberal democratic capitalism. Because everyone is aware of the horros of the Nazi regime and because we fought an all out war with them, everyone is aware fascism can no longer be that alternative. Rather than give up on communism though, people would rather just believe that it hasn't been "done properly" yet, but that it "works on paper" (a very common misconception). I really hope a day will come when everyone realizes that liberal (I mean liberal in the traditional sense, not the modern American sense aka socialism) representative democracy with a conservative capitalist bend is the best humanity can do, and it is pretty damn good. I am not counting on anything though because there will always be many who want a change for the sake of change.

Although to be fair, India has not yet reached the West in terms of wealth and so it is understandable that many Indians think there should be a better way. I realize that to a starving villager who can't make ends meet it is of little help to hear that in a couple generations their people will be wealthier for embracing capitalism, but it is true. India and China have made great strides since embracing capitalism, private ownership, and in India's case, democracy.

They have been very socialist since the British Empire left. Instead of adapting to Capitalism, they reject it and accept some very heavily mixed economy. Then they blame it on the very small Capitalist part.

The BJP was doing a great job. They were doing lots of privatizing, the economy was booming, and nobody, not even the Congress Party is denying that. The problem is that all this growth was mainly helping the cities at this point in time. Those living in rural areas (thats the majority of the India's population) were insulted seeing all these adds telling them how great everything is when things for them haven't been improving nearly as much. I still think BJP would have been the right choice for India, but they didn't campaign well. At least Gandhi has stepped aside allowing the stock exchange to recover from the collapse caused by Congress winning the election (as well as the promises of support from Communist parties). Apparenltly the finance minister who started the move away from socialism might become the new prime minister. Even if that isn't as good as BJP winning, its better than it might have been.

BJP did make a good economic climate for India, but its a little early to acess the damage congress party will have on India. Congress are known to be anti-privatisation, and since I'm naturally the biggest well-wisher to the Indian economy I'll be keeping my fingers crossed
