PTC tower has been revised, its now 1947 feet.

Why are we building all these , there are more fault lines here than u can shake a stick at.

Theres a reason we don't have sky scrapers here.

PTC's being built in Karachi. Karachi's not so bad. My guess is for promotion of tourism and making the land more investor friendly. Big buildings are cool.

There are pictures that some of our Local Pakistanis have gone and taken of the construction work. So I'm guessing they ARE working on it.

I myself went to Multan road to snap pictures of Bahria Town in Lahore.

Jolly good, not bad for Pakistan. Are those architects / structural consultants from Pakistan or abroad, like the ones designing the worlds tallest Burj Tower in Dubai?

Asim Aquil
17 May 06,, 14:22
Mostly, Pakistanis.

Investors are from different places.

no, i'm seeing a lot of Altos, Esteems and Bolenos... they might be sold solely under the Suzuki brand in Pakistan, in India they are sold under Maruti Suzuki brand because of joint collaboration... so I thought maybe in Pakistan it was something similar...

You mean those people on the carts? We also have them, but not in Islamabad. And even in the other cities, they are mostly in run down areas, or like vegitable markets and so on.

I saw a few in Karachi, they were selling vegitables and Fruits on their carts. They usually 'ride' past residential areas hoping for sales. And I saw some in Sadar areas, where they were 'parked' outside shops and colleges.

Twin 65-Story Towers for Karachi:
to be built within 2 years on I.I. Chundrigar Road

http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/407/chundrigarpix8vw.jpg

UAE group buys Rs 2.25b land to build 65-storey towers

ISLAMABAD (PPI)-Pakistan Railways has sold three acres of prime land on I.I. Chundrigar Road in Karachi to the National Logistic Cell at record price of 2.25 billion rupees through open bid.

An agreement to this effect was signed here Friday between Pakistan Railways and National Logistic Cell (NLC).

Secretary Railways Shakeel Durrani and Director General NLC Major General Khalid Zaheer Akhtar signed the documents.

Minister for Railways Shamim Haider Siddiqui, Minister of State for Railways Ishaque Khan Khakwani, Prince Sheikh Tariq Al-Qasimi of Inshaa Holdings of Sharjah and Chairman National Logistic Cell Lt. General Muhammad Afzal Muzaffar were also present on the occasion.

Railways Minister said that sixty percent of the sale money will go to Pakistan Railways while remaining forty percent will go to Sindh government.
He said that NLC in collaboration with Inshaa Holdings of Sharjah, UAE will build two sixty-five stories high rise buildings at the site.

He hoped that the construction of these towers will help generate economic activities and create employment opportunities in Karachi and the agreement will go a long way in attracting foreign investment.

The Minister of State Ishaque Khan Khakwani said that these two towers, which have designed by a Singapore firm will be completed at a cost of over ten billion rupees.

He said these buildings would be first high rise buildings after the Habib Bank Plaza in Karachi. He said these buildings would have big space for shopping malls, offices, flats of international standards.

To a question, he said various investors after this bidding have contacted Pakistan Railways to sale out other prime land lying on the I.I. Chundrigar Road for commercial investment.

Secretary Railways Shakeel Durrani said that it is for the first time that Railways has been able to earn huge amount through foreign investment under open bidding.

He hoped that Railways will successfully sale out more land for commercial purpose, which will result in speeding up economic activities throughout the country besides getting more earnings for the improvement of Railways.

Karachi and Islamabad is sooooooo much like Indian cities of Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and so on...

Cool!

Only differences are - dacorated rickshaws, different brands of vehicles and conservative appearance of women.

How about this building in Taipai, Taiwan? I certainly hope it's very flexible. I recall sitting in my room on the 13th floor of a hotel in Kaousiung and rocking back and forth to mild earthquake.
