  • Enormous Yamato model

Ever heard of a 1/10 scale model of a ship that was some 860 ft to begin with?

Apparently this is a museum dedicated to HIJMS Yamato in the city of Kure, where she was built.

I think I just found the next vacation destination for THL and myself :)

A huge amount of extremely detailed pictures can be found at this link

You can read more abou the Yamato Museum itself at the official site here

“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

I admit to it being my idea to visit the U-505 and I am getting a pass I think to be able to visit Cantigny Park whenever I want (it is only 15 minutes from my house and 5 from my work) - this is something that I guess I would not mind seeing if I ever happen to be in Japan. (Though Pearl Habor is on my list of things to do before this pretend "model of a boat.) ;)

(I dont like the beach - too much sand and sun.)
