This is all a bunch of easternist fanboyism, just the kind of mental disease floating around white people's heads nowadays. All of this crap you see in anime is a steaming pile of BULL. A knight would whup a samurai without breaking a sweat. Knightly swords were not "iron clubs with edges". Medieval European armor was far superior to the wooden crap the samurai used. The idea that medieval European armor was slow, clumsy and encumbering is yet more BS, as is the thing about medieval Europeans being unskilled brutes or how a samurai sword could slice through a European broadsword (ROFL!!!). And as for a samurai cutting mail or plated armor, that's totally impossible. If an expert tried that on a replica breastplate with a replica katana, each item equal to its medieval version, the katana would just bounce off. Medieval armor isn't friggin' tinfoil. Go read something written by a non-retard and stop watching anime.
