    Answer: Fear.

Fear they might find out exactly whats written into the Bill including but not limited too the abortion issue, How much money is going to be wasted and how much control the governement will have over your Health Care. Also fear that people may find out exactly which Senators and Congressmen make out on the deal and proposed such idiotic idealisms. Too many elections are up coming and those who are attempting to shove this down the peoples throats should fear the most because very soon they may find themselves working at Mc Donalds instead of for the US government. Then maybe just maybe they will finally figure out that their Health Care Bill sucks when viewed from the opposite end of the spectrum. Pompos Asses! Another resounding reason to have term limits imposed upon these Branches by the people and for the people.

To hold down premiums and prevent free-riding. If you have a system where the most expensive people that have Cancer/AIDS/Diabetes/etc can get healthcare whenever they want it, premiums increase on everyone, and people opt out of the system because it's too expensive for them. Adverse selection in action.

Second, if you can get cheap health insurance whenever you like, there's a strong incentive for individuals to NEVER get health insurance until you suddenly develop some sort of disease, and then you buy the cheap health insurance while riding on everyone's back.

Might as well ask why people need governments at all, even though governments give us good things that everyone appreciates, like a military or courts. People are always looking for the free ride
