    Another Lying Republican

Bush Official Arrested in Corruption Probe

By R. Jeffrey Smith and Susan Schmidt
    Washington Post Staff Writers
    Tuesday, September 20, 2005; Page A01

The Bush administration's top federal procurement official resigned Friday and was arrested yesterday, accused of lying and obstructing a criminal investigation into Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff's dealings with the federal government. It was the first criminal complaint filed against a government official in the ongoing corruption probe related to Abramoff's activities in Washington.

    Washington Post

It is time for Republicans to stop blaming Democrats and start cleaning their own house. Conservative Michelle Malkin gets it:

NO MORE CRONYISM: BUSH DHS NOMINEE DOESN'T DESERVE THE JOB

This is Julie Myers, President Bush's nominee to head the the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security.

Her nomination is a joke. A bad joke: (via WaPo)

The Bush administration is seeking to appoint a lawyer with little immigration or customs experience to head the troubled law enforcement agency that handles those issues, prompting sharp criticism from some employee groups, immigration advocates and homeland security experts.
The push to appoint Julie Myers to head the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, part of the Department of Homeland Security, comes in the midst of intense debate over the qualifications of department political appointees involved in the sluggish response to Hurricane Katrina...

...After working as a federal prosecutor in Brooklyn, N.Y., for two years, Myers held a variety of jobs over the past four years at the White House and at the departments of Commerce, Justice and Treasury, though none involved managing a large bureaucracy. Myers worked briefly as chief of staff to Michael Chertoff when he led the Justice Department's criminal division before he became Homeland Security secretary.

Myers also was an associate under independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr for about 16 months and has most recently served as a special assistant to President Bush handling personnel issues.

Her uncle is Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers, the departing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She married Chertoff's current chief of staff, John F. Wood, on Saturday.

I don't agree with Michelle on many issues, but she gets an "atta girl" from me on this one.

No, he has a point for once. Blatant idiocy like appointing that Meyers chickie should be pointed out, criticized, and decried. It's all part of the political "broken windows" theory.

Why put up with ANYTHING like this from ANYONE? It's a bad decision, and a stupid one, and whoever made it or signed off on it should be held accountable.

    Thanks, Dale.

If discussion on this forum can become more rational and less ideological, you will see that my criticism of "stupid liberal behaviour" can be just as vehement as my criticism of "stupid conservative behaviour".

    For example:

    liberals who oppose nuclear power,

liberals who oppose those who serve in the military,

liberals with a impractically naive view of environmentalism,

liberals who want to "end poverty" instead of giving the poor a fair chance.

It's not your criticisms I personally take issue with, it's your style of discussion and debate.

We should all just stop calling each other names and get down to the truth . . .
Another lying politician! I'm sure that doesn't offend anyone and probably makes most everyone on the board happy.

And then we realize that politics is all B.S anyways. I'm a fair weather voter. I vote for who I think deserves my vote. Bush got my vote this time. And all my peers agree. The 60's hippie fest is over.

Heh, heh. You may have strong views, Sniper, but you are no ideologist.

Yep, there are plenty of politicians who are, shall we say, "negative value added". In both Parties. There are some, in both parties, who make useful contributions.

Even if the only politicians you agree with are all in one party, it is still a good idea to weed out the crooks and incompetents.

Very little of what you engage in could be called "discussion".
