Slagging off politicians is popular & easy. I am a firm believer that we generally get what we deserve as an electorate. Gabrielle Giffords proves that once in a while we get someone who reflects the very best in us. Hard to watch this without feeling a bit emotional. Hope she recovers fully & returns to public life.

One of the reasons why I was drawn to Gabby Giffords was her husband Mark Kelly who I met on several occasions at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center where I worked in Protective Services. Im not an overly religious person, but her survival and recoverey to date as as close to a medical "Miracle" as I think I have ever heard of. THe first reposnders and surgeons that worked on her deserve a serious amount of recognition.
