Prison for pregnant troops in Iraq

"Think before you do something", soldiers told.

Becoming pregnant has become a punishable offence for female American soldiers in Iraq and for those who make them pregnant as well.
General Anthony Cucolo, who commands US forces in northern Iraq, says offenders including married couples could attract punishments such as a court martial, or time in prison.
"I have female soldiers in absolutely critical specialties and becoming pregnant takes them out of the fight," he said.
"And so that's my message to the females - think before you do something, because I need you.
"And for the males, if you take one of my soldiers out of the fight, well, there are consequences for that too.
"It's black and white for me. I've got a mission to do. I am given a finite number of soldiers with which to do it and I need every one of them.
"So I'm going to take every measure I can to keep them all strong, fit and with me for the 12 months that we're in the combat zone."

yes thats a right dicision according to me but i am sure that the female activists back in the mainland will start shaving the generals pubic hair citing the freedom rights and undermining the feminism.

The General has the UCMJ (military law) on his side. If there is a violation of the UCMJ, he may elect to prosecute the offenders. Adultery, conduct unbecoming, he has all sorts of legalistic tools to make life very unpleasant for those who cannot keep their pants on when he orders them to do so.

Look at who you're talking about: Teenagers. Lots and lots of horny/lonely/bored teenagers that are far from hearth and home.

It's not until 25 or so that they actually get fitted with common sense and start to realize that "actions have consequences".

Heck, I'm sure there are plenty of over-25's that commit adultery or impregnate/get pregnant as well.

Oh heck no, this is the "it can't happen to me" mentality on full display...once again, a prime trait in, but by no means limited to, teenagers.

Good Ole' "GENERAL RULE #1". This rule/law has been in effect for many years, it also includes alcohol and pornography. We call it the "FUN RULE", becouse it makes almost anything fun illegal.

I have personally known a few individuals who violated this rule and got caught. The punishment was harsh, but they did not go to prison for the crime, just an a** chewing, paperwork and article 15 for repeat offenders.

The miltary knows its going to happen, they just try and prevent it. My first deployment I though it was fun and we got our breif and told the rule when we arrived. Next I went to the small exchange store to purchase a few extra items and found comdoms for sale at the front counter. I had a good laugh at it; kind of like telling your kids not to eat the candy, then leaving it open where they can reach it.

Or at least they are suppose to Birth control doesn't always work, though...Confed and I have our wonderful baby Dharma to attest to that.

So I ask this....If a couple in Iraq (a married couple who are both over there, not commiting adultery) are using precautions and get pregnant anyway...do they still get in trouble?

thats why i never did it without at least two seperate means of protections (well, getting children is not really problem for me anymore, but back then I still wanted to be sure). So for example it always had to be a condom and the pill (or another combination) and never just one method (pulling out and praying don't count)
    uh I might be wrong
