    V for Obama

If you don't like Obamamania then watch V. Realclearpolitics turned me on to it and tonight was the premier. Its hard to believe ABC is running somethign so openly critical of Obama.

V's- aliens disquised as humans (Democrats disguised as people who really care)

Anna- leader of the V's (Obama), at one point she says the interview with media cannot ask any questions that make V's look bad or there will be no interview (Obama v Fox)

lead anchorman who sells out for air time (big media)

The V's who turn traitor to help the human under ground (blue dogs)

Anna offering universal healthcare/ while the cut away has V thugs attacking the underground.

Is this a convenient analogy or one that's really targeted as such? After all, the original V series (yep, watched it as a kid and I got to see the first ever alien birth from a human!) would have been on when Obama was in college.

I don't know, but universal health care being used as a buy in to gain trust, legions of admirers, a sell out media...

The original V or the new V?

It seems like Hollywood is out of ideas these days. Everything is a re-make or a "re-imagining."

The original V mini-series was on Sci-fi (SyFy...stupid name) this past sunday.

The new one will be on this month, featuring Morena Baccarin as Anna. She's one of the hottest women on the planet. Even more so than Julie Banderas.

    Crap!!! I missed the premiere?

Lordy Z, I've watched the originals, I sure hope they don't 'remake' the same series, by the end of the original the 'V's were just innocent space-romantics who were just 'misunderstood' instead of Communists like the original pilot screenplay portrayed them as.

Morena Baccaran(sp) is totally hot btw. See 'Firefly' or 'Serenity' SciFi series/Movie for back-up on that... smokin' cutie anyhow, and if she's reading this; I am single....

Ah, time to eat a burrito... I am such a man Morena, you should look me up

Sounds like a classic example of people seeing what they want to see. It was picked up in May 2009 & the pilot was already done by August, when filming for the series began. I'm guessing most of the writing was done by then (at least in the broad). Then there is the whole 'remake' aspect (loved the original as a kid). As people are drawing comparisons using the 'Fox ban' as an example I suspect that it is mostly wishful thinking.

In Australia several years ago a satirical show called 'the Hollowmen' began, set in the senior ranks of the bureacracy in Canberra. It debuted about 6 months into the term of the current government. On several occasions opponents of the government jumped on episodes that they clamed just had to be written about the government. it turned out that they werent, and indeed much of the writing had been done before the election. OOPS!

Doesn't mean that the producers of 'V' are not throwing in current references to be topical, but I would question if a high cost TV drama is going to risk alienating a decent chunk of its audience by comparing the guy they voted for a few months ago to an alien invader who eats people. People can convince themselves of pretty much anything if they wish.

    For US viewers only Z.

You can timeline it yourself. How does the 'Fox ban' (late October) get into something that was produced months ago? Like I said, they may be throwing in a few topical references (mostly from the election & first few month I suspect), but the 'its about Obama' bit strikes me as people seeing what they choose to.

Of course now that people are saying this its a bit like puffed wheat (breakfast cereal). Once someone tells you what it looks like you can never look at it without seeing that.
