    One nation indivisible, under God

Obama will be the Commander-in-Chief, and he has, in his speech, attempted to reach out to all those that did not vote for him, I hope that we will come together as Americans, that we will do as Senator McCain said, that as Americans more bonds join us than divide us, and being American is a relationship that trumps everything else partisan.
This great country ours belongs to all of us, to build and to make better, I would urge all that we take this challenge to come together as we have never before. Let us prove everyone wrong, lets astound our enemies let America rise again for we alone of all nations have shown ourselves able to learn from our mistakes and to renew ourselves and to be even better than before. There is no challenge we can not meet no enemy we can not repulse if we pull together - so let us pull together.
If you see something that is not right with America take time out, and make it right, America will be the better for it, and you will be the better for it. The Government is a necessary evil, like gravity, some things get slowed down by it, but without it we cant function.
This is a new dawn - the sun is shining on a new America than set last night, what you make of it is up to all of us, we can stand on the side lines or we can be a part of this historic moment and contribute to the reshaping of America in the image of the new millenium.
I serve the Public as a Precinct Chair and as an Elections Judge, and I saw their enthusian this time around.
It is easy to be cynical. It is easy to criticize. At one time we were young and idealistic, let us join with the mood of the country and be happy with her. We are all Americans and America's success is our success, her glory is our glory, and if we can leave petty partisanship behind for a moment, we too can rejoice that our country is capable to correct course every 4 to 8 years and have a peaceful transfer of power as the most powerful nation on earth - surely that is a beautiful thing to see. an inspiration to other nations by example.
Rather than hoping that the Dems fail, please pray that the country suceed. We are our country, we are willing to die for our country, surely we can come together for our country, surely we can set aside our differences for our country. Does that mean we have to agree on everything, heck no. Just that we do not impede the progress of the nation while we debate which path would be best to take.
Now you can cut and paste my semtences and cut and dice my words, or you can look at the gestalt of my message. You can think the worst of it, or you can think the better of it, that too is up to each one of you.
We can only control one person's actions, our own.

I am very glad today because it is best for US and it is the best for people who are living accross the world.I mean there is no discrimination in US on the basis of colour.
It is is also very good for US if there is policy shift or any change in forign policy and can overcome the world hated attitude accros the globe against US.I also hope that consumer capital will deffinately create a space against war capital and ultimately as a result of this change the global village become in peace full shape.

Now we have a few problems to solve. Let's get on with it. I'm glad he didn't get a filibuster proof Senate. That will help tone down his social agenda.

Congratulations to all you Obama supporters. It was a good debate for the most part. Watch out in 2012.
Amen to that. It was a hard fought race on both sides but in the end we have shown to the world the strength of our democracy and John McCain’s concession speech I think showed the true measure of the man and served to increase my respect for him.

While a large majority of Indians rooted for Obama, there were also those who felt that McCain would be better since he would have followed in principle with Bush's policies and Bush has been the Best Friend of India amongst all US President to date.

Indeed Bush has been. I acknowledge his concern for my nation in all humility at my command.

However, his gung ho-ism still worried me. It did create tensions the world over, which in my opinion, could have been avoided. But then, he is a Texan with all the wild west genes in him. Shoot first and then talk later. Does not work in international politics!

Obama is a dark horse. We are not aware what he shall do. Therefore, we can only hope that he will mean what he said - change - we can.

Too early to predict. We can hope that he meant what he said.

The only thing that is clear is that the USA has startled the world. They elected a Black as their President. An impossibility which I thought. It has made the US grow in stature and has forever shut up those who felt US is a land of opportunity only for the privileged. His election has shown that US has graduated beyond narrow divides.

    God Bless America!

    Hello guys,

I dont usually respond in this forum but i do read alot of threads from here. Id like to say that i am happy to see Obama elected president, and i will certainly pray that he will be the president we are hoping for.

What really interests me, however, is that John Mccain really said his peace gracefully and from the heart. I think that although I am quite liberal, I believe that Mccain ran an excellent campaign, and is a hero in all aspects.

Its time for America to come together and repair the damage that has been done the past 8 years, Republican or Democrat, for the greater good of the nation as a whole. There are far too many issues out there that need solutions, starting with the economy no doubt.

Most definetely, I cant wait to see how this is all going to play out, but in any case, history was made today.
Looks like it will be another American century after all.

It is people like Ironduke, JAD and McCain who make me proud of the USA.

They are committed Republicans and yet they are magnanimous and are ready to work for their Nation!

    I salute them.

It is the US that is most important and not personalities!!

America has spoken and Obama better deliver!

    Get a grip!

Is there not anyone on this blog who is not an embittered sore and bad loser? What sort of Americans are you? I have been a registered Republican for 48 years and voted for a Democrat for President for the third time in my life. I am overjoyed at a catastrophic defeat of the Republican Party because it will give a chance to the real Republicans, the party of Lincoln, of Teddy Roosevelt, of Dwight Eisenhower, of Taft and of many other honorable decent and patriotic Americans to make it the Grand Old Party again.

We will cleanse the GOP of the political refugees from the Democratic Party: the Dixiecrats, the Scoop Jackson proteges who have dragged our country into the abyss with corruption, hubris, greed, inefficient and bloated government, incredible deficits, and a war that was fought for personal ego. Get out of my Party!

God help us as I fear he'll deplet our military leaving us open to Islamic attacks.

his "promises" will be scaled back, and I doubt he will deplete the military, he will just move them around

I'm mostly just glad it's over. I think everyone has expected that Obama would win for quite sometime.

I hope that Obama's promise of change wasn't just magical fairy dust and that he has solid plans.

At the bare minimum if Obama improves the way other nations look at the U.S. it will be worth it.
