a little off topic, but I am reminded of a story my professor told me about two white males, who met "black" people. Being from rural areas they had not really encountered any prior to the 2 events.

the first white male met his first black person while he was broke down on the side of the road, 2 young black males picked him up drove him to the closest gas station, lent him a few bucks to get a can and some gas, and drove him back to his car, after making sure the car started went on thier way.

the second white male met his first black person while he was broke down on the side of the road, 2 young black males picked him up drove him outside of town beat the living crap out of him took his wallet, and left him for dead out in the middle of nowhere.

to make it short the second white male doesnt like black people, believes they are crooks, and murderers. Is he a racist?

Now, tell us about the stories where all the non blacks are beyond crime.

If people beyond the US shores get furious since they are going hungry because of Wall Street white folks, does it mean that all white folks are crooks and shysters? )

I will grant you this that blacks and the coloured can be crooks at the street level and so jailed fast and sure, while the whites thieve with satin gloves on and with great panache and sophistication and get bailed out by their co sponsors at the Administration! ) They are no thieves. They are businessmen and speculators, right? And they don't have to be jailed and instead given largess to quit!

no, of course their not all crooks and shysters, but they may believe that, it doesnt make them racist, it makes them bias.

Of course allegories help.

But they should be balanced.

The stories only indicated two sides of the black people. But were they fair?

The Wall St chaps are not crooks and shysters?

Did you read of the companies still sending their folks on junkets and giving perks when their companies were sinking? Was that not stealing from those who trusted them with their money and buying stocks? If they are not crooks and shysters, then both the words require new meanings.

What I want to say is that whatever is not to one's liking is just passed off as racism since that is the catch all phrase!

In my opinion, to declare something racist, it must have substance and not use loosely to baulk the other person in silence by blackmailing in to being PC!

im not sure i understand Ray, you asked if all white folks are crooks and shysters because of what happend on wall-street, i said no. Are you indeed saying that white people are all crooks and shysters?

I have a bias and of that there is no doubt, even though I try my best to suppress it.

I am from the colonial times and so I understand the inequalities being borne in my own country at the hands of foreigners! You will not understand of what is to be second rate citizens in your own country since God has been kind to you to spare you of the indignities.

I don't complain of what was our fate. We brought it upon ourselves. Yet, now that we are free we can think it over dispassionately and I don't hold a grudge against our colonial masters, since they did what was best for them. Yet, if it is raised without reason, don't grudge me if I see red!! May I inform you that one of my own Uncles is an Anglo Saxon undiluted British?!! So, I temper things with reason. Not a total bigot, if you will!

I do not look at people by their colour. I look at people by their attitude. There are many out here who think the world belongs to them (you are not one of them and so I enjoy discussing with you since I learn from you including of my biases). They feel that they are Lords of Tartary or, as one of my Generals berated us for thinking we are great by saying - You are no God's Own Balls with the Sun Shining out of your Ar,se.

I beg to disagree with you that I don't interact. The very fact that I am here and continue to be here (inspite of certain unmentionable impediments) is that I read and interact and even needle (if you will) so that I learn. For instance, I don't agree with JAD but I have learnt a whole lot from him! Even Zraver. They are my best teachers! Then there is Xerxes and Big K giving me the Islamic point of view, even if a wee bit guarded. I, myself, am guarded!

Racism is stupid. It is only a tool for crooks and the intellectually infirm who have no leg to stand on. Judge each person by his or her characteristics of character. That is what I say.

i was speaking of the proverbial "you" and "your" not tying to single you out in peticular, we all have bias based on our experiences.
