A six pont bounce already for Obama and he hasn't even given his speech yet. Gallup Daily: Obama Moves Ahead, 48% to 42% A 10-12 point bounce is very probable for the Democrat, and it is unlikely McCain can match it. Consider that the Republican convention's first day will be Labor Day (who is really going to watch it on Monday) and Thursday, the day of McCain's speech, is also the opening day of the NFL regular season. Poor scheduling by the Republicans, unless McCain picks a real inspiring V.P. he may be in trouble.

Hero, you forgot to point out that all that is AFTER the 3 point LOSS of the last few days.

Even before the veep pick and convention the RNC was saying that Stinky was going to get a 10 - 15 point bounce. No reason to panic at all.

Always good to maintain a sense of humour, and be a dab hand with the photoshop as someone from The Political Enquirer is.

    Obama is on the high.

But still I would say that given the prejudices, the US is not ready for any coloured to be the President.

McCain, who comes out very poorly, and his attack on the Democrats pathetic, will be the President, by default!

His only qualification is that he was a PW. Not a great achievement since sitting out of a war (even under adverse conditions) saves the bacon!

One is taught 'Escape and Evasion' as a part of military training to avoid being captured and if captured to continuously attempt escape. There are enough of such examples in WW II.

How do you tax capital? Liquid capital like cash is after-tax money held for
operations or invested from outside? Taxing it would amount to double taxation.

Capital-funded infrastructure is already subject to local personal property taxes. Taxing it at the Federal level won't help. Businesses just pass the cost on to consumers. That raises prices and lowers demand, which and ends up lowering job growth.

As for increasing payroll taxes, workers already pay more than 6% of their gross for Social Security and Medicare. Employers match it, and once again pass it off to their customers, plus another 1-2% in state and federal umemployment taxes.

Raising taxes on business appeals to the average person; it's impersonal, which is why the Democrats propose it, but in reality they know that taxing business is the worse way to stimulate job growth and keep consumer prices down, and in this economy, it's a sure way to lose jobs.

Jimmy Carter again comes to mind. Many young people do not remember those times.

Windfall profit tax, gas prices doubled, and interest rates were at 18%. It was horrible. That's what I remember.

It's gonna be close, Ray. A good many Americans, including whites are getting used to the idea and anyway they like his tune--make me president and government is going to serve you breakfast in bed.

McCain, who comes out very poorly, and his attack on the Democrats pathetic, will be the President, by default!
Except that he happens to be right. This malarky that he votes with Bush 90% of the time is a syllogistic travesty. Bush doesn't hold votes; Congress does. And the implication that Bush is wrong 90% of the time is patent nonsense. Even Obama voted with Bush on extending the Patriot Act.

His only qualification is that he was a PW. Not a great achievement since sitting out of a war (even under adverse conditions) saves the bacon!
This is not worthy of you. McCain has served in Congress for many years and been a leader on many important pieces of legislation. He's a realist compared to Obama's pie in the sky vision of a paternalistic government.

One is taught 'Escape and Evasion' as a part of military training to avoid being captured and if captured to continuously attempt escape. There are enough of such examples in WW II.

Again, not worthy of you, sir. Have you ever been a POW in a Vietnamese camp? How many of McCain's fellow prisoners escaped. Zero. It appears the logic of your statement is that if you do not escape you failed your duty.

Ah, those were the days. Money market returns of 14%... But of course, you needed it to stay abreast of inflation.

I'm feeling really good about a McCain-Romney or McCain-Pawlenty ticket right now, although I'd regret losing Pawlenty as my Governor.

Embarrassingly-enough I just had to Google my Lt. Governor. Carol Molnau. I've heard her on the local Northern Alliance radio show but I couldn't say Word One about her stand on anything.

Does that make me a bad citizen?

Did anyone else notice that during the call for Obama to be nominated 'by acclaim' the the time given for ppl to say/shout 'nay' was about 1/10 of that given to those shouting 'yea'?
