    Republican Poll 12/05

A little over seven weeks have passed since the creation of the last WAB 2008 Republican presidential candidate poll, and since then, some candidates have dropped out, and poll numbers have shifted for a few candidates.

Giuliani still holds the lead in the polls, but by no means has garnered the support of the majority of those polls. McCain, Romney, Thompson, and Huckabee all have a respectable amount of support.

Unlike the last two polls, I have decided to not to include Ron Paul in this poll. I am familiar with the tactics used by his supporters to skew internet polls, and while we certainly don't have anywhere near the largest polls on the internet, we have been targeted by his supporters to make it seem that he has much more support, while it is actually negligible. I apologize to long-term WAB members in good standing who support Ron Paul that I am forced to omit him.

The attitudes of many of this board have no doubt shifted regarding the various candidates. Share with us any and all opinions you may have about the candidate you support, as well as other candidates you like as well (or dislike).

    In alphabetical order:
    • Rudy Giuliani, Former Mayor of New York City
    • Mike Huckabee, Former Governor of Arkansas
    • Duncan Hunter, U.S. Representative from California
    • John McCain, U.S. Senator from Arizona
    • Mitt Romney, Former Governor of Massachusetts
    • Tom Tancredo, U.S. Representative from Colorado
    • Fred Thompson, Former U.S. Senator from Tennessee

I would rather pick Ron Paul, his ideals are closer to mine, but Fred is a great choice.

    Just like the mainstream media

Just like the mainstream media, who tell me that I can only vote for one of their approved candidates.

Ron Paul comes closests to representing my views of a democratic republic we were promised by the founding fathers.

I don't like the choices either. Tarek, perhaps your idea may be a good one. Dennis Goddard (d_goddard) is definitely not a minion, and I doubt the other Ron Paul supporters are either. Ever since I first swore an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic", I have honored that oath. Unfortunately while I was in various countries, occasionally getting shot at, politicians in congress and the White House were violating their oaths and treating the Constitution like it was just a G-- d--- piece of paper. Ron Paul is the only congressman who consistently honors his oath of office, and he has been doing it for about 20 years. I have been a Republican for most of my life, but about 6 years ago I started to get frustrated at the way congress and the president were conspiring to take away our civil liberties, changing definitions and spending our money like legions of drunken sailors. I voted for George Bush because I could not stand John Kerry, but I was wishing there were a better option. I first learned about Ron Paul about 8 years ago when I was reading the bills that were coming up for a vote and writing my congress critters with my opinions on them. Unfortunately there were reams of bad bills that I read, but very few good ones. One thing that I noticed was that a significant portion of the good bills were authored by Congressman Ron Paul of Texas. I decided to look up his voting and bill submission history and was amazed that there was actually a congressman who consistently stood up for the Constitution. I started writing my congress critters and asking them to cosponsor any bills that were written by Ron Paul.
This January I heard a rumor that Ron Paul was thinking about running for president of the United States. I was thrilled that there might actually be a chance that we might actually get a president who upholds the Constitution and that we may actually return to a Constitutional Republic in my lifetime. I will vote for Ron Paul.

Is it me or did a bunch of posters join up JUST so they could vote for Ron Paul?

It's unfortunate, but you and your flock are the reason Paul isn't up there.

It's not difficult for a determined group of trolls to skew a poll meant for regular members.

So, you'll just have to state your preference in the thread where we can see if you're regular contributing members or trolls.

Why not disqualify Rudy Giuliani---he has endorsed more Democratic candidates than all the rest of the list combined.
Why not disqualify John McCain---he's against torture, and all loyal Bushies need to follow their Master.
Why not disqualify Mitt Romney---he's the Govenor of Taxachusetts, place of residence alone makes him suspect to REAL Republicans.
Why not disqualify Huckabee---a nice guy, a great witness for diet and exercise, but with zero experience on foreign policy and an intellect lost in the pre-Darwin years of the 19th Century.
That leaves only Hunter, Tancredo, and Thompson---a list of wannabes that is frightening in its capacity for inducing voter flight.
You just might want to reconsider your cavalier rejection of Ron Paul, the only bona fide phenom in the Republican Party.

    Why not?

Because none of those candidates' supporters go out of their way to be flaming tools.

And Paul is a loonie. Likes taking money from NeoNazis too.

I'm sure it must be a technical term, but what exactly constitutes a "flaming tool"?

If candidates stopped accepting donations from all extremists groups, they'd all be broke. It's the people with special axes to grind that give the money and the time that makes campaigns possible. And besides, the Neo-Nazis are hardly a threat ot the Republic.
