WASHINGTON - It doesn't rival the Pentagon's $600 toilet seat, but the Justice Department can fork over a mean $4 meatball.
Ok, right away I can tell whoever wrote this doesn't do his homework.

About them $600 toiletseats, as a builder I can tell you $600 is a lot of dough for a seat of ease, but if you're in a military aircraft banking hard left and diving, you might appreciate that particular toilet seat, as it was built to prevent crap from flying out, which is about all in this world that does. And anyway, $600 each is not much for a limited addition, handmade aircraft throne.

But seriously, the DOJ appears to have gone overboard. Not exactly a $265 million bridge to nowhere, but every penny wasted counts.

As for the possible double dipping, the attendees who claimed food expenses may have indeed eaten elsewhere or perhaps they were claiming breakfasts. Who knows?

Seems the DOJ admits the catering was extravagent and promises to tone it down. Yeah, until the heat dies down.

Oh, yes. I remember him. He had big national ambitions, as I recall. Always mouthing off on some issue or another. I wondered what happened to him.

To help Julie, wasn't there a Repub Ohio governor or mayor or something that ended up in the slammer a couple of years ago?

But then that would be balanced by the Rhode Island governor or something last year. Dem, of course.

Yeah, Taft. Pretty piffling case of 'corruption' (less than $6,000 in golf outings, books, artwork, and trinkets, which Taft failed to report), but it still counts. It was from 2005, however.

I've been using incidents from 2006 and after.

Needless to say, what I wanted all of this to portray is that BOTH parties is guilty of wrong-doing. How it is measured, is strickly up to the voter. Lobby reform, as well as campaign donation reform is badly needed, as to BOTH parties, in the law of legislation.

I think there should be a cap on company, as well as independent, donations, because anything less is nothing short of bribery. This will also balance the responsibility of the politicians back to the American people, which is sadly needed.

I think it's the same in most countries, to be fair.

Bluesman: Say hello to Emrys and all the other pinkies for me. Kettler and Dorosh too! Thanks. Dems don't need any Chinese cash; they get all they want from George Soros and the Kool-aide driniking Net-loonies. They are trying to buy the election; I hope that enough people wake up in places other than Vermont and California and Oregon to stop that liberal loon juggernaut. Tagwyn

JAD: Nazis as liberals is not silly! Nazi: National SOCIALIST Party. Liberals are archetype Nazis. They will hurt you ... they really will. Just wait if they get the White House. These are not the liberals of Lyndon Johnson and FDR and HST. These people do not like our country and are out to destroy those institutions and values that we are based on historically. Tag

I respectfully disagree. The liberals you are referring to I suppose are the democrats. What I see happening if they win the presidency next year is a return to Clinton economics and a more liberal approach to social issues. Also, I'd expect to see an attempt to improve international relations by softening our image abroad. This is nothing new for the dems. But I don't believe that they do not like our country and are out to destroy any institutions. They have a different perspective than the GOP, but it is not anti American; it's anti-conservative. If a majority of Americans vote them in, I will respect their choice.

I'm getting closer to that bottle of scotch.

Note the tie to the Clinton transfer of missile tech to the PRC. Norman Hsu's pattern of donation has an uncanny similarity to the very same guy that was behind THAT.

I'm not calling the game YET, but I'm clearing space in my liquor cabinet...

A charge, MSgt, the bet was a charge ... and even if you win, I will NOT send the bottle until your personal guarantee that you appreciate scotch as it should be enjoyed - two fingers high in glass, room temperature, and NEAT.

Keep that space clear because, I'll be sending you a bottle when Hillary wins the 2008 election.

See? Told you a bottle of scotch would be wasted on me.

Drinking scotch neat would render me incapable of speech, much less rational thought.

Although, according to master mixologist Dale DeGroff" "...if you put a few drops of water in it, that water will open up the aromas and the secrets that are locked inside your scotch"
