I chose Ron Paul only because his views are seen as somewhat radical. And yet, they're in your face and, as far as he believes, honest. Ron Paul is a good speaker always having an answer to every question thrown his way. He makes a lot of sense about somethings..not everything. The U.S. needs a no non-sense candidate that tells it like it is. I think this country's ready for a shift in reality a bit. Ron will suffice...at least until Fred Thompson comes to his senses and throws his hat into the political arena.

    Fred's in!

As I said, we have to choose the better of two evils. Whichever Republican is nominated, I will vote for because it's completely idiotic to not vote because your favorite candidate wasn't nominated. However, at the moment, my favorite is Tancredo (in the House), but in this poll I voted for Romney because he seems to be the best of 3 barely tolerable front-runners. Though I like Fred, it's still not official, and I have to wait to see how he does upon entering.

I'm not that familiar with Ron Paul so I'd appreciate someone filling me in.

You are really going to piss some people off with that statement.

What makes you say that? I'm just curious-I know nothing about him. But I would appreciate it if you would back up what you said.

I think the turning point for me was when he said that all hostility to the US is caused by US presence, and that if we were only to completely withdraw from everywhere, people would stop hating us. And then, when Guiliani did not agree, he handed him a reading list of 7 books on foreign policy, which all incidentally supported this international relations perspective of his. Then, he went on to imply that Rudy was an uneducated jackass, basically because the guy does not agree with him. If I met a person who is that pretentious in real life (one who is very wrong in his interpration of international relations IMO) being that disrespectful, I would punch him in the mouth. I sure as hell wouldn't vote for such a guy. He takes a bunch of sound, empirically supported libertarian ideals that are good (IMO) and stretches them so far that they start to become hard to recongnize.

I just finished reading about Ron Paul, and his views of the Electoral College, immigration, the election of Senators, the income tax, US participation in international organizations, the federal reserve, and other federal programs tell me that he isn't so bad-all this coming from a "neo-con."
