Plus he is a warmonger who is using the word 'terroriTHm' (can't stomach that idiotic lisp) as the answer for everything...when he hasn't even read the 911 Commission Report.

We need a strong true republican like Ron Paul.

if I can't have Fred Thompson then mike Huckabee the guy worked miracles in Arkansas. he left office with a nearly 1 billion dollar surplus, new roads and improving education scores. he also got universal medical insurance for kids and the state still turned a massive surplus. They guy is ultra conservative on some issues I am more relaxed on but all in all he is very solid.

    Should he run?

You did not know Tom has been declared for a while now? He was in the debates although he did not get to answer many questions and did not fair well in the after debate polls.

Too bad he's a member of the same old good old boy network CFR, etc..

We will NEVER win against Democrats who pretend to be anti-war if we don't have a candidate who will at the very least, re-examine foreign policy.

At this moment, I like Romney the most. He seems like a stable family guy, successful business leader, looks and talks Presidential, blah blah blah. I suppose if Thompson were to enter the race, things could change. Who knows.

    Romney is not a conservative

You mean like banning guns and imposing universal health care w/biometric chips? I doubt that is Reaganesque. I think too many of you are falling for good looks. But I know Romney and he's no Reagan!

I think Guiliani is an excellent leader however, his anti-gun stance frightens me. Being a Kansan, most people would think I'm all for Sam Brownback. Brownback was done some good things for Kansas however, his attendance for votes in the Senate (about 48%) is a bit alarming.

Oops, I didn't finish. I like the fact that McCain is a military veteran and personally, I feel that we should add "Honorably Discharged Officer of Enlisted with a minimun of four years service in the armed forces" to the list of qualifying criteria for the Presidency. I know there are some very intelligent people out there without military experience perhaps due to some medical reason but sometimes you can't substitute experience with intelligence. I would also like a more "middle class" candidate. At this point, I'm not certain.

Universal Medical Care? He raised taxes. My candidate has NEVER done that. Voted 100% against them, for 10 years.

Now you're talking! Giuliani is no leader -- he did not even read the 911 Commission's Report and doesn't even know what it says.... (it says the same thing Ron Paul said in the first two debates.)

People assume Brownback is ultra-conservative because he's religious. He is NOT. He is for amnesty for illegals! You would go for that? I've met him several times and he is a nice guy, but forget it.

I continue to be shocked and dismayed at the shallow reasons people use to choose their favorites.

    Ron was a flight surgeon.

Ron Paul fits all the qualifications you cite....and he got the highest and second highest number of votes as the winner of the first two debates.

Did any of you even WATCH those? Rudy proved to be ignorant, McCain can't even raise any money in NH (Ron has raised more than he and Rudy) and Mitt is just a Ken doll who has to rehearse what the word 'conservative' means.

I picked Rudy Giuliani from the list as he has executive experience, mayor of NYC and US Attorney. I think that experience will be the key for the next US president. Fred Thompson is interesting, he too seems to have a lot of experience, watergate counsel and Senator. On the Democrat side, they lack experience. Obama, Clinton and Edwards have a cumulative sixteen years in the Senate and not much else. Bill Richardson seems to be the candidate with experience, Congress, Governor of New Mexico, UN Ambassador and Secretary of Energy.

Whomever gets the job will have his work cut out for him. I cannot remember a President with more foreign policy problems awaiting him. There is much fence mending to be done with the Euros. The elections of Merkle and Sarkozy will help with that. The Euros are definitely trying to meet us half-way. Still, the new President will have a new and weaker British Prime Minister and a hostile Spanish one to deal with. In all probability whoever has the top job in Italy will not be too warm to the US. Turkey is a disaster in the making and Russia is trying to cause trouble. The PRC will be off it's so called best behavior and of course, North Korea is always looking for trouble.

The middle-east is a shambles of our own making. None of our candidates, GOP or Democrat, has much experience with that troubled region. Richardson comes closest, but still he will need lots of help. Bush, by acting on sketchy intelligence, has saddled his successor with a high burden of proof for anything we might need to do. That is his legacy, and a sorry one at that.

universal medical care for kids including dental. Taxes are not always bad, when they meet a real need of the comunity. Arkansas is one of the poorest states in the union, the number of uninsured is huge. Combine that with rural poverty and and a poor education system still being overhauled and the need was huge. he also reduced obsiety by requiring phys ed, and laid the ground work for education reform and increased college assistence.

The states future depends on haivng skilled workers, and that means taking care of the kids today.

I'd be scared to have Rudy in charge. He's never even read the 911 Commission Report...and showed his ignorance on that in the second debate...

Fred Thompson of McCain-Feingold-Thompson-Soros is a CFR member and I would never trust him to be independent.
