Death penalty isn't murder. Notice, killing someone is not murder. For example, if some pulls a gun on you and you shoot them first, this is not murder. Thus, clearly killing someone is not always murder. So what's the difference between killing someone and murdering someone? In my mind, murder has two elements, intent and justifiability. Obviously, you can't murder someone if you didn't mean to do it. What you did may be a crime, in the case of negligence for example, but it is not murder. The second element asks the question: "Were you justified in killing the person?" In order for you to answer this question you must answer another--Did the individual deserve to die?--because if a person does not deserve to die then they don't deserve to be killed. If you believe that people should be punish for the crimes they commit, the only question is whether the death penalty is too harsh a punishment. Since you took someone else's life intentionally and without justification, it is hard to imagine a punishment that is too harsh. Therefore, the death penalty is not murder. Further more, the death penalty is justified if you believe in punishing criminals.

It was inconvenient, like the person standing in line in front of you at the bank.

What's worse is Texans' average iq is only 7 points higher than Mississippi. So, what does that make Bush? Mentally challenged?

I can not believe those IQ statistics.....I took an iq test just the other day...I'm from Georgia, and I scored a 121. I haven't had schooling since 1982. I have never considered myself intelligent, but I haven't lost much of my intelligence the last 20 years either since I took my last iq test. So an 85 is just absurd.

One must never mistake IQ with education. IQ tests only measure a couple of aspects of intellegence. They don't account for street smarts, compasion, creativity, or even base logic. I know some people with photographic memories that can barely dress themselves.

Also, it is a very thin line which separates insanity and genious. To be truely brilliant means to be truely madd.

I say shoot for the middle for optimum happiness. I'm a 142 and mildly disfunctional. To be smarter would be the end of me. They're coming to take me away. Oh My!
