Just trying to make sure everyone stays friendly, love the debate, love that we can take a joke topic like this as far as we have, and will continue to do so. To you personally Lucien, have you seen my thread on World Hegemony? You sound like the kind of person who would have some interesting opinions there.

"Jesus Land"? This election has really brought out the sore losers, and I thought it was bad last time...

Of course this election is better. This time Mr. Bush actually got elected. First time yet. (Wonder if this qualifies him for another term, is the rule only two consecutive elected terms or two served terms?)

Good God, let's bring some REAL AMERICAN history into this.

The American Civil War. End of debate.

Well, I don't take it personally. I'm simply vigilant. At times, it may be regarded as a shortcoming, but I've always prided myself in never being caught with my pants down.

As for your recommendation, I tend to get tunnel vision with regard to particular discussion threads. I'll have to look for it--or you can post the link to it (hint, hint).

Now, I'm not American, and I'm quite proud of it, but as a result, I don't know all the American history the rest of you might. However, as far as I can tell, the public spin on the American Civil War was that it was a war over slavery in which the nation divided into two. Not neccessarily states leaving after a referendum. Again, I'm just a Canadian who doesn't know American history perfectly, so please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

    A World Hegemony?

Now don't ever say I can't take a hint. I don't know whether that link will work or not. If not, just have a look, it's fairly active still, just go into the politics forum and look for it. Three or four down.

Not according to the people of America. Besides, please do not attempt to convince me that you know completely and accurately what occurred in Florida, because I sincerely doubt that anyone does.

If nobody really knows, then how do you know he wasn't elected? Sorry, be as argumentitive as you wish to be, but under the laws of the US and Florida, upheld by the US Supreme Court, Bush was elected President. It doesn't matter if you agree, that's how it is.

Allow me to summarize the final score.

    George Walker Bush: 50,456,002 47.87%
Albert Arnold Gore Jr.: 50,999,897 48.38%

    Those people.

If you continue on to the article on that website, it explains more thoroughly than I can that the only reason Mr. Bush was placed into power was because a) The Supreme Court decided that (1) The recount was to end, and (2) No new recount with uniform standards could be conducted. b) Gore conceded the election for the sake of the nation.

Following the election, a subsequent recount conducted by various U.S. news media organizations indicated that Bush would have won using some of the recount methods (including the one favored by Gore at the time of the Supreme Court decision) but that Gore would have won if other methods were adopted.
I believe that speaks for itself.

I live in Jacksonville, Florida, (Duval County), and I do know a little about the subject--since I was in the middle of it.

The bottom line, in their gleefulness and confidence, a lot of Democrats put their fiery determination cap on while leaving their voter competancy cap in the closet. I voted with the so-called chad system. Any person who failed to cast their vote in a manner that spoke to a reasonable level of maturity simply didn't take their time in casting their vote. My young daughter could have cast a vote indicative of her actual choice. We're not talking rocket science here, folks.

Stupidity is not a constitutionally protected category of people.
