    Clinton-Obama ticket??

Dick Morris last week spoke of the possibility of a Clinton-Obama ticket for 2008.

What do you think are the chances of this? Would Obama accept a VP nomination if he didn't win the Democratic nomination - would it hurt or help his future Presidential aspirations? How would this hypothetical ticket affect the GOP choice for VP and their strategy?

I think the chances are pretty good. Obama doesn't have any substance for the run by himself right now. He only has 2 years of senate services under his belt and no major legislations. He needs Hillary. It will definitely help his presidential aspirations.

I don't think this will affect the GOP choice for VP. Hillary is a very polarizing figure. Obama lacks substance. This ticket can capture the northeast, parts of the left coast, and the very corrupt Illinois, but not much more. They can kiss the south and its 110 electoral votes goodbye. I doubt they can capture the plains and the midwest. In the end, they might get around 200 electoral votes.

Of course these are strictly my speculations. I have no sources, references, or links.

As long as Hillary is on the ticket, the Republicans shouldn't have too much to worry about. Cheney is a non-starter, and another Bush (Jeb) is out of the question. McCain-anyone should stomp Hillary-Obama.

I think a Romney-Guliani or Guliani-Romney is a lock for the presidency. McCain has too much baggage. But I agree that the key is Hillary. I don't like McCain at all as I stated in that other thread, but there's not a chance in Hades of Hillary getting my vote short of Ted Kennedy or the like capturing hte Republican nomination.

I doubt Giulani has a chance. He won't get enough support in the South, or from social conservatives in general. Romney might have a chance, but he's still a dam' Yankee. I think McCain might have a chance, but I don't know.

Hillary-Obama? Blegghh. I'm hoping for Edwards, just because I dislike him so much I want to vote against him again.

Obama blew it with me when he said he was looking for ways to cut funds to troops.

I think there are enough people out there who aren't aware enough of who they are voting for that Clinton/Obama would actually have a good chance of scoring quite a bit of the popular vote. I wouldn't be casting my vote for that ticket however.

Hillary/Obama, sadly in my view, has an excellent chance. They don't need the south to win, and the alienation of the libertarians artfully and skillfully employed by the GOP combined with Californian infiltration bluing previously more conservative western states has tipped the scales in a number of states. McCain is working to alienate all of his moderate supporters (plus he's looking like a beat-up old cat that needs to be put down), and a Giuliani/Romney combination will alienate the moderates because Giuliani is a New York City liberal, despite his GOP stamp, and nobody's gonna want to vote for a Mormon from Massachusetts.

I'm pulling, fantasizing, really, for Richardson, DNC, out of New Mexico, simply because the GOP have shotgunned themselves through the head and our only chance is a conservative democrat.

    The GOP has got nothin'.

You know - if the roles were changed so it was Hillary slotting for the VP spot and Obama as President I am thinking in my little head they may have a better chance. Demographically, their chances may improve, but it is all speculation and conjecture at this point. Although an interesting twist as I aim to humor myself this morning.

It was so cold Barack Obama threw his hat in the ring, and then put it back on.

Obama I have really no problem with. Sooner or later we will have an african american president, woman or both at the same time. We certainly dont need another "fast willie" or his spouse in the oval office. We should also look at military service for both of these canidates and McCain. That should certainly sink Hilliary's run beyond a doubt. Lets not forget people that military service does come into play when this coveted position comes into play. How people could overlook the fact of what Clinton did during wartimes in his country and allow him the presidency is far beyond me.

I think that as long as you have a president who will listen to people who have the direct experience that it shouldn't matter. You need solid judgement and an ability to listen to opposing viewpoints - something Clinton was much better at than Bush is. And it's something that I think Obama will be capable of.
