The main body of objection was NOT based on her abortion stance.

    Edited to add:

Both Robertson and Falwell strongly supported Miers.

The opposition came from the likes of Will, Krauthammer, Fund, and Ingraham.

Seems to me Bush is doing the exact same things every President that has had to make appointments has done...

I agree completely with this Administration’s goal of a regime change in Iraq-John Kerry

He may even miscalculate and slide these weapons off to terrorist groups to invite them to be a surrogate to use them against the United States. It’s the miscalculation that poses the greatest threat-John Kerry

Thanks. Wow, five decades off. Brown v. Board of education was the 1950s case (1952) that overturned Plessy v. Ferguson.

Thanks for the tip to Justice Harlan's opinion. Here's the line that struck me the most. How prescient.

In my opinion, the judgment this day rendered will, in time, prove to be quite as pernicious as the decision made by this tribunal in the Dred Scott Case.

Justice Harlan's call was right on the money, everything he said that would happen; did. Supreme Court heard Brown v. Board of Education in 1952 but failed to reach a decision, reargument heard in 1953 and the case decided in 1954. The decision was desegregation in education and did not abolish segregation in other public areas. Also the Supreme Court did not put a time on the desgregation of schools and it took years before it took hold.
