"""""On 2 February 1983, for example, a column of Israeli tanks attempted to enter the US compound around the Beirut IAP.
The Israelis were so stubborn in their insistence to enter the area that a captain of the US Marines had to climb to the leading Merkava and threaten the commander to turn around at a gun-point. When the Israeli column refused to pull away from the USMC finally deployed several AH-1T Cobra helicopters, equipped with TOW-anti-tank missiles, forcing them to do so under a threat of attack."""""
We were only there because really they (Israel) bit off more then they could chew in Lebanon. It was easier to get in then out (hell they only got out in 2000). Over 300 Americans, Frenchmen and Italians died in Lebanon during 1983.
To get a good look into how much they really like us one should read "Israel's Lebanon War" which was written in about 1985 by two Israelis. It really shows one what Reagan thought of them. Puts Sharon in a new light as well.
"If they want to sell to China fine with me. Let them pay for their own military then"
They would totally fall apart. Kind of like Indochina after the aid got pulled out. Our money is what gives them a military edge. Not only money but we also give them free equipment not covered by the money. Its not a safety net but a wheel chair. But it does seem time to show them who is in charge.
"Israel is the main source of alot of our problems....costly too."
I do wonder if we would have some of the problems we have if we didn't bankroll them and always take their side.
