Colonel, thank you for the response. The IA discontinued the rank of 2nd Lieutenant a few years ago, but otherwise the rank structure seems similar. Is the rank of General FC an honorary one? Is the command of an Army Group given to a Lt. Gen?

I should have been more clear about IA officers wearing medals. I've seen them wear medals while in their BDUs, but not in a combat zone. The most recent example I recall is at the Indo-US joint exercise in Vairangete.
