None the less, his idea that there is nothing inherently superior to democracy compared to authoritarian regimes resonates with me. (Bugger, I'm starting to sound like an academic....)
The fact that China could absorb the Japanese attack while fighting the communists and Russia could absorb the German thrusts suggest he's right when he says that size does matter, not democracy.
