Iran would not bother about the US since it knows that it can make things hot for the US in Iraq as also that the US is on a tight lease as far as deployable manpower for any military intervention.
The only way she can be 'sorted out' ( to some extent) is through a UN sanction (UN has its value inspite of the wide opinion here that it is a moribund organisation). That is the reason why she is playing ball with EU.
