Lill,
There were many Jews in my school.
One of my friends and classmate was Nissim Ezekeil. He was medium build and so skinny that you could blow him away with a puff of breath like the Big Bad Wolf.
He emigrated to Israel after Senior Cambridge.
I met him at a School Reunion. He had come to India (he could not forget his roots, I reckon). He was a changed man. He was still thin, but he had a sheen that had to be seen.. He was confident of himself and his new country and he was ready to strive for an safe and prosperous Israel. He was equally proud of India and what it has achieved. He wanted to know how I fought the wars and things like that. Imagine that meek little skinny boy talking of war and giving me tips! eek!
The difference of Nissim as a school boy and Nizzim as a citizen of Israel made me think. The new identity seemed to be a great elixir. An elixir as great as Popeye and spinach!
That elixir reminded me of Asterix and the magic potion!
