Lull,
The Israelis are a desperate people. They have to exist under hostile conditions with hostile neighbours all around.
Throughout history they have ben caricatured as the meek, skinny, drivelling, kow towing individuals. They had been discriminated for ages. This made them inward looking and this forced them to find ways to find their place in the sun. They did it in the field of academics and in finance mostly. Obviously, they were still not liked because most economies were in their hand.
They suffered at the hands of the Europeans and the favourite whipping boy issue was the crucification of Christ, who himself was a Jew. The grand finale was the Halocaust.
Israel came into being. They found some status. They found oneness. They found no discrimination or insults. They re-discovered themselves as humans as good as any other. This was a exhilerating feeling after centuries of persecution. They cling to this new found identity with zeal and vigour. Almost with an intense jealousy, lest it is snatched off them again.
Now, given that circumstance, do you think that they will barter their new found freedom and equality and return to the old stereotype?
No chance.
They would rather die, than be sold to the bigotry of the yesteryears.
Do not underestimate Israel.
They will blow Iran's nuke facilties even if it blow them up!
