I almost answered North Carolina (BB 52) class. But I have a copy of Max Newhart's book and the drawing of the NC is similar to Rodney only in having one stack, and then one of a totally different design.

Also, Rodney had THREE turrets forward pushing the superstructure way aft but leaving a long Clipper shiplike bow. And the Rodney had NO turret aft. The NC would have had only 2 turrets fwd (and 2 aft) and thus a shorter bow.

Personally, I think the Rodney was a better looking ship, but I sure would not have mistaken her for a BB 52 class ship. I don't have time to google or scan profiles of the two ships. Need to find out where I can get a copy of the COSAL and Damage Control book of the USS Ranger.
