I shall repeat - the purpose of these parades: tradition and a call of patriotic feelings. That I read in Russian the Internet-forums speaks me about what time spent for this parade - is spent not in empty.
Military parades also pass all over the world: on June, 13th in France; on October, 29th in Turkey; on January, 26th in India; on September, 9th in Northern Korea; on July, 5th in Venezuela.
Military parades in Russia is too ancient tradition, it existed even before education of the USA. Passage of technics is partially a tribute to parades during imperial time (when went horse build and guns lasted), and partially - memory of parade on November, 7th, 1941 when the technics left from the Red Area directly in fights near Moscow.
Yes, this distinction of cultures. I for example do not understand, what for in the USA flags (schools, streets) everywhere are hanged out, and the symbolics of a flag is used everywhere - from cowards up to benches. Probably, this your patriotic education, but I consider that it is "symbolism" and in some part "false patriotism" (superfluous expenditure of a paint ).
