Many don't know if Russia does threaten us or not. Your parades were once brutal displays of raw power and were unmissed except by intelligence analysts who prized the opportunity to view the latest in Soviet equipment. They served to intimidate us and inspire you. I note no functional difference now in this parade's purpose.
Have you noted the almost complete absence of military parades in the west along with the absence of armies to march at such parades. It's not a big thing. Not even in America. Even on our military bases they're largely viewed as a waste of valuable time. Desert Storm, W.W. II one-time ticker-tape parades without tanks.
Big cultural difference. If Americans are turned off by this display so familiar to an ignoble past, then you must understand that many Euro-softies will be utterly horrified at new images from Red Square so similar to frightening old images.
