Aselsan Submits Torpedo Decoy/Jammer Proposal
According to TD&AU sources, Aselsan (A defence company based in Turkey) has submitted a proposal to the Turkish Ministry of National Defence [MoND] R&D and Technology Department for a Submarine Acoustic Decoy System under a TüBiTAK R&DE project. Aselsan’s proposal is said to be valued at YTL45 Million and covers the design, development and delivery of 7oo expandable torpedo decoys/jammers for the Turkish Navy.
For use on Turkish submarines, the expandable torpedo decoy/jammer can be launched instantly, providing the vessel with omni-directional protection against attacks from incoming torpedoes.
Dubbed DAKA, and being developed in cooperation with two Turkish universities [METU and Bilkent] and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey [TüBiTAK], the torpedo decoy/jammer is expected to be retrofitted onto all the submarines in the service of Turkish Navy, as well as on the New Type Submarine to be selected in the coming months.
