With the state actors that are involved the
UNIFIL commanders should ensure that they keep the peace, there is no way they can enforce it in this situation.
I would not be able to accept any justification for soldiers with UN dying in that place to keep the peace between Hizbulla and Israel, when there is no peace to keep.
Can you really do that with in the rules of engagement, with in the mandate? Force the peace in a situation between Hizbulla, labanon and Israel?

You mean like Rwanda? It was the very fact that LGen/Senator Dallaire who refused to abandon his mission that 30,000 Rwandans were saved from being butchered.

Sources in Jerusalem said the incident was a source of great embarrassment for UNIFIL. The troops trailed the truck and stopped it, but when the troops approached the truck, armed Hizbullah members jumped out and threatened to hurt them if they would not leave the area. The source said UNIFIL's men turned back and left the scene.

If these were Indian troops, this would be exactly what i would want them to do, leave the scene, and if it happens too often leave it for good.
If the mandate is for them to put their lives in harms way they should be well equipped and in good numbers to deal with the situation, and to really
enforce peace.
