I see Obama as being left, Hillary as center-left, McCain as center-right. Hillary naturally should be the ideal Democratic nominee, but many people have a skewed perception of her actual place on the left-right spectrum.

Obama was effectively able to co-opt what should have been her message. Obama claims to be able to "bring people together", "bridge the partisan divide", "reach across the aisle", and so on. Yet there is no evidence of this in his political career. There's a lot more evidence of Hillary bridging the partisan divide and reaching across the aisle (in the Senate, probably not in people's perceptions).

I find it quite odd that the common perception of their respective places on the left side of the political spectrum are the exact opposite of what they actually are.
