You are way off in your analysis. Arranged Marriages is the norm, Love marriages is the exception. In the metro cities that ratio is slightly better.

Metro?
Nice.
Does the Army live in Metros?
You forget that I was in the Army from 1963.
What do you think the Army is all about? Parties and golf?
In the field area, it is winning the hearts and mind. It means meeting people and understanding them. As Bush says, 'It is hard work'. How do you understand them? By sitting in Metros?
In peace stations, we go out every month to areas where we can practice military activities learnt. Where do you find that space? In Metros?
And when you go out with your company all independent to train, do you for recreation only chat with your men and swig whiskey in your tent?
You move around, even if you wish to call it an evening walk. You see things happening and you get chatty and ask.
So, understand army life and then give your judgemental remarks.
I don't blame you. All my civilian friends ask me, hey, you guys are having a ball. It is only when there is a war do we get our money's worth!!
Little do they understand, as you don't understand, it is real hard work!!
If we, in the Army, don't know India, then no Indian knows India.
Wherever there is a crisis we are there. We live the sorrows and joys of India, but little is known since the media only live the joys of India and army is not a vote bank!!
