Like Riverie, Tennessee the town in Missouri would be on the opposite side of the Mississippi River due to the New Madrid Earthquake of 1812. Note might well be the Missouri for your town as all along the Mo., Ms.,and Oh. River valleys parts of states are on "the wrong side of the river".
