, I haven't been able to get hold of my (signed and inscribed) copy of Lehman's "Command of the seas" during my trip to CONUS.
Based on what's reported in Hubbard's thesis (which is pretty much what I remember from the book), there are a couple of things to note regarding the shore bombardment carried out by
USS New Jersey on 8 February 1984 :
1. Targets were *eight Syrian artillery batteries* (see also post #14 in this thread).
2. Gunfire was *under the direction of an Army target acquisition battery radar* (see also post #21 in this thread).
