You sure? I thought 3 Aegis ships were on alert to shoot it down.

Also they used the SM-3 ABM missile, which had it's software modified for its sensors to recognize the satellite is the target.

I'm not sure if just the SM-3's on the ship at the time were modified just once, or if it is a permanent modification.
