Perhaps. But it's the principle and the scope of the argument.

Banning "assault" weapons : gun control = CCP : right to bear arms

Banning "assault" weapons is a subset of gun control just like how CCP is a subset of the right to keep and bear arms.

By the way, do you know how difficult it is to get a CCP in California? It's virtually impossible unless you are a big shot or have connections to big shots. The average joe like me cannot get one, at all, unless I can prove that my occupation carries a daily threat to my life.

I know this is off topic, but there's an interesting effect brought about by CA's ban on magazines with greater than 10 rounds capacity. People buy the smallest pistol possible that carries the biggest rounds possible. The end result is easier to hide guns with increased lethality. Another "unintended consequence" by the big government liberals.
