The law bent then, the gnp went through the roof overnight, because the problem was so widespread and had taken such seed that to enforce the law as-was would have been completely unrealistic. That's my analogue. Yours is one from a perspective I can't have, but your frustration is certainly merited. I think that also makes you biased.
