Well, space according to the math is not infinite. It's just very, very big and according to Einsteinian physics, it is actually curve. Point in any direction, go long enough and far enough and provided nothing moves, you will come right back to where you started.
I know this is like an ant not understanding about the world being round but if the ant start walking in one single direction and keep at it, it will come back to his original spot.
Same kind of thing here. I have to admit that when I took the course that I stopped trying to picture things as they appear and concentrated on the math. It is alot easier to understand that multiply 10 x 10 is 100 than to try to count things through one at a time.
