The argument of who actually go to the top first has raged on for years. Tensing Norgay said it was him who helped Hilary to the top and vice versa.
What was important was the expedition succeeding in the challenge to conquer the worlds tallest mountain. The pair who were expected to reach the top had difficulties with their oxygen equipment, so Edmund Hillary & sherpa Tenzing Norgay took their place.
