The US is about half of China's exports so a loss of the US market will be a loss of half the Chinese economy. But it gets worse for China, if the US loses Chinese imports we get a recession possibly a depression just like China, but that in turns means the dollar truly tanks and China takes a second hot when its dollar reserves crumble. The government won't have the money to bail out the economy when banks start calling in loans and idle factories go bankrupt.
