Actually to Putin and its parties are not present necessity to swindle. At them really very high rating, and they have already won.
As to board:
I see the tendency:
If the president goes on concessions of the USA, plunges the country into chaos, disorganizes economy, reduces army, etc. - that it in the West name the democrat (for example Gorbachev, Yeltsin, Yushenko, Saakashvili)
If the president conducts a policy in national interests, strengthens economy, puts things in order, conducts the external policy in interests of the country - that it there and then name in the West the dictator (for example Putin, Islam Karimov, Ugo Chaves)
It refers to double standards
Guys, unless you do not see white a thread?

No offense but are free and open elections that much to ask from a government? There is no double standard we have seen this time and time again and its ALWAYS the little people that suffer. Chavez doesnt want open and free elections and looking at this neither does Putin. I have no quarems with Russia being on the up and up economy, social etc wise. But threatening to remove basic necessities in peoples eveyday lives if the choose not to vote for them? Please, who the hell sold Russia to Putin and Venezuala to Chavez?

It belongs to the people as much as their right to vote in whomever they choose without fear of retribution from those that would certainly loose their high elevations in free elections.
You want to know what makes America so powerfull? Its its people. The people exercising their rights to choose their leaders and remove them all the same if they wish to do so. And no matter where it is on the globe that you come from if you become a citizen then your voice counts as much as our own.
By the people, For the people! Lets see Putin and Chavez make that claim with a straight face. We wont hold our breath waiting trust me.
