I have tasted the sliced American cheese and various other types of sliced varieties. I just haven't had a chance to observe the cheese I eat for whatever reason comes from a block of cheese like how it was made.

Well, cheddar cheese made in America is cheese.... as would be colby, mozzarella, etc... that stuff in the individual wrappers is process cheese.
