Khruschev also said that the Soviet Union would bury us. We managed to have a nuclear cold war for forty years without ever having a nuke detonated in anger. Were Israel to attack Iran, the chances of Iran being willing to risk a nuclear war with Israel once it became a nuclear power would increase dramatically.
Especially since Israel lacks the ability to shut down Iran's program the way they could with Iraq and/or Syria.
