Whatever it maybe, a person who is capable to bring Russia into the current situation she is, from what was a ruined country under drunkard Yelstien, He deserves more than just mere praises. That being said, he is not exactly the darling of the west, simple reason he runs his country for his people.
Strategy, Capacity whatever you may call it, If i was a Russian, I would want him for a President. I will wait for my complete democracy for a bit more time, but I cant wait to get food on my table. Westerner's will not understand the significance of that, simply because they havent for the past 300 years had to go through something like that. For us, it was just a mere 30 years ago.

IMO Thats exactly why she is the way she is today. Democracy would have changed that long ago. Just think, how many intelligent minds that could have changed all of that and made things much better for the people were ran over by other methods behind the curtain.
There are many Westerners that know exactly what its like to starve. I kid you not. Being one of nine children growing up you dont need to tell me what its like to do without. Been there done that learned and changed to prevent that.
